When(if) my OBS truck sells I'll be in the market for a Super Duty. We've decided to sell the extended cab and finally pull the trigger on a crew cab. The lady likes the creature comforts and I gotta have a 7.3. Got some questions though for when I'm looking.
I'll be after a cclb 250 or 350(most likely 350 but don't really care) 4x4. Intentions are daily driving with occasional light towing. Plans: airflow, gauges, tuning, injectors(160cc max with maybe 100% nozzles max but probably 30%), and other supporting mods
They only came factory with 3.73 or 4.10s correct? Is there a door code list somewhere so I can know when I'm at the truck?
Is the 4R100 any tougher than an E4OD or should a 6 speed be the only choice anyway? I doubt I'll ever be able to build an auto. At best MAYBE buy a racer x kit and have someone build it for me or a used BTS.
What kind of RPMs are yall turning with each trans/gear combo?
Are the single shots hands down better than splits? For power and mileage alike?
Sorry for the list but thanks in advance for the help.
Correct, 3.73's and 4.10's were the options, and yes there is a door code just like the OBS.
Im running 1900 at 70.
Yes the 4R100 is stronger than the E4OD, except some of the 2001 models due to a mechanical diode thats prone to screw up. At the end of the day tho, 4R100 is just an upgraded E4OD.
At the top of the forum are stickies - one of them is common mods, acronyms, etc. but the one above will help you out.
I know about the stickies and such. I've seen a lot of good info on the SD forum over the past few years but there are just a few things I wanted to clarify that I haven't seen or found yet. Thank you for the link.

From what I hear, singles are the way to go.
Thanks man. 1900 at 70 sounds pretty nice. I'm at 21-2200 at 70 with the ZF5. I know there's a door code. I was thinking maybe somebody has a list of the codes I can look at somewhere.
Are the forward gears in a 4R100 the same as an E4OD?
