97 Limited Explorer Driverside low beam Headlamp Not working

I have a 97 Ford Limited Explorer, the driver side headlamp is not working, thought it was the bulb put new one in still did not worked checked old bulb on a 12volt tester it worked good, the high beams work fine on both but no driver side low beam, can not find any fueses or did I miss something?

Your owners manual should have a list of fuses. Interior fuse 4 is wired to the lamps out warning module, then to the drivers side headlight.

If the fuse is good the lamps out module is probably the problem.

Failed solder joints in the Lamp Outage warning Module are a common problem. It seems like the left low beam goes out the most often. On mine, I could wiggle the wires going to the LOM and the left low beam would go on and off. I opened the LOM and re-soldered the failed solder joint. It has worked fine for over 2 years.

What is the location of the Lamp Outage Warning Module? I am having the same trouble with my 97 Explorer.

If you press in on the sides of the plastic around the computer display and pull, the whole piece will just pop out. You will see the LOM under the plastic, to the right. I think two screws hold it in place. If you can solder, take the LOM apart and re-solder any failed solder joints.

Thanks! That worked. I couldn't tell which one it was but after looking at the diagram in the Haynes manual I decided it was number 11, so I soldered it and that fixed the problem, Thanks a lot!

That is great news!!! I could see the bad solder joint on mine. I went ahead and re-soldered all the solder joints for the connector just to make sure. It's been over two years and it still is working perfect.
