I have been trying to find a poste from some time ago that gave instructions on wiring your low beams to stay on with your high beams on the superduty truck. Does anyone know where to find it, or what the wiring procedure was?? Thanks.
I have seen the brite box, but this way only cost about $25.00. It was not just a jumper. It involved a relay from radio shack and a seperate fuse. You wired the relay so that when you hit the high beams it energized the relay and powered the low beams through the seperate fuse which is wired to the battery. I know it works because I did it on my 2001 superduty, problem is I traded it in for a 2003 and I can't locate the printout of the directions and I can't remember which wires went to what. Thanks for the info. anyway. I will keep looking.
Just had to throw in my two bits. I have the Brite Box on my 2000 Superduty and can't say enough good about it. Having a trouble free Dual Beam setup is GREAT!!!!
I've been running the Brite Box since 2001 with absolutely NO Problems with Heat......After Market Bulbs can cause heat problems.....experienced this on earlier FORDS.....
OK. I have remembered how this wiring works. You can do it for around $30.00 give or take. You need a 12v 30amp relay from radio shack, an inline fuse, wire splicers, crimp on connectors, and a roll of 14gauge wire. You tap into the high beam wire at the headlight and wire it to one side of the coil on the relay. You run a ground wire to the other side of the coil. You run a wire from the hot side of the battery to the 12v in on the relay. You tap into the low beam wire and wire it to the 12v out on the relay. I did it on the passenger side so the wires did not have to be long. Remove the battery and you can reach everything easily. I mounted the relay on the ground screw close to where the battery sits. It works perfectly, and I assume is the same set up as the brite box, only you do the wiring and save some cash.
I have run the bright box also since 2001 driving across TX for hundreda of miles with both high and low on and never had a problem.
Bluezack thanks for the info next time I will save a few bucks.
This may sound like a stupid question, but when ordering a brite box, does the kit come with 2 units (one for each headlight) or do you have to specify that you want 2 of them and pay the $95.00 or so for each of them?

One BRITE BOX simply installed on the right hand side headlight will give you a simple and convienent way to High and Low Beams both on when in High Beam position.
I really appreciate having this little night vision aid.....for my older eyes that are always looking for the rocks, Angus Cattle and you name it on the dark winding Idaho roads....
You won't be disappointed. The only other light oriented Modification you might look at doing is the www.suvlights.com Heavy Duty Headlight Wire Harness. This is another one of these easy to do and really beneficial mods. You will get true battery voltage to the headlights instead of the reduced voltage to the lights thanks to FORD's undersized wiring. Results in a very noticable increase in light output. Of course, you can then add Sylvannia Silverstar or other aftermarket Bulbs.
Gary,
I actually just installed a heavy duty headlight wire harness. It works great but the only problem I have is to do with my daytime running lights. Up here in Canada, they are mandatory. But the DRL's run at a reduced voltage through the high beam filament. So now that my headlight voltage is increased due to the reduction in voltage drops, my daytime running lights are as bright (if not brighter) as my normal low beam lights used to be before I added the wiring harness. I just hope that they don't appear so bright that they begin to irritate the oncoming traffic. I guess I'll have to wait and see. Where did you order your "Brite Box" mod from? I tried to order one from Motorhaven.com but the transaction wouldn't complete over the internet because it couldn't calculate a method of shipping (Canadian Postal Code vs Zip Code). Once again, thanks for your advice!!

An intesting mod I found that's applicable if you have an upgraded headlight wiring harness with relays. It actually accomplishes the same thing as the brite box.......but for only a few cents instead of $100. I was going to order the brite box but being from Canada, I was having difficulty completing the transaction with the US company....pretty happy about it now! I tried the mod and it works great! Best of all, I saved myself a bunch of $$$$!
