loud hissssing from the carb.
I am trying to get my Truck running so I can go hunting. I was having idle issues so i just recently rebuild the edelbroke carb. Today i put the carb on and start it up and the truck ran but is making this really loud hisssssing noise. I played with the vaccume lines and nothing seemed to stop the hisssing any ideas??? I did not let it run to long as i did not want to hurt anything. I quickly shut the truck off and started it back up a couple times to see if the went away. I thought i would look for some advice on here...

Did you replace the base gasket?
On a Performer carb you have the PCV port on the front and the brake booster port on the back, ported vacuum passenger side and manifold vacuum driver's side.

Definately if the mixture screws are turned nearly all the way in.
Start with 2.5 turns out and use a vacuum gauge to adjust for highest vacuum.
Or, adjust for highest/ smoothest idle if a gauge isn't available.
