Burst of hot air when taking off

so now that the temps are getting cooler, but not really cold i keep the heater on hot with low fan setting on defrost, when im driving my 7.3 diesel 2000 excursion, it seems when i accelerate i get a burst of hot air from the defroster, i was wondering if anyone else experiances this?

and is there a way to fix it? or is it just normal? it puts out good heat at idle and everything, it just seems when i accelerate from a stoplight i get that eye drying burst.

Does it"stay" warmer when driving,if so I'm thinking maybe a partially clogged heater core.

I bet your voltage at idle is low and when you step on the throttle you give your fan a few more volts to work with.

If by "burst", you mean a blast of hot air like the fan is going on high for a second or two it could be a jacked up resistor block for the low fan speeds. I'd pull it and have a look.

Size: 8.7 KB It is to the lower right of the blower motor, located under the hood in the a/c evaporator case. See the plug in the picture to the right of the arrow. This plug is on the resistor block.

well voltage at idle 14.75 or so and goes up to 15.5v or 16v when blasting off from a stop.

That's pretty high. I would expect no more than 14.5ish at anytime.

its not like the fan kicks on that large of burst, its almost like just hotter air drifts out of the defroster.

The burst of speed and resulting G forces push you further back into the seat, thus putting you into the path of the otherwise naturally occuring draft zones of the HVAC system of your truck.

That or the fan motor has an iffy ground that is impacted by the above noted inertial change???????

Or better yet, the coolant level is a tad low in the radiator system and gets a little extra boost with the increased RPM's upon acceleration.

BTW, it's still damn near a hunnered degrees and almost a humidity percentage to match here. I will gladly swap ya, but only for a very few weeks.

X2! 14.5v is what my 200A puts out at any given time.
