Axle Code

Does anyone know what the axle code found on the door jam means? All my shop manual says is that it is the axle code, which I think is pretty obvious since it says "axle" right next to it. Mine says 19 and two other buddies say 17 and 18. Thanks

I know that code 18 means that the truck has 3.08 gears. I don't know what the others are. Hopefully someone else can help out. Paul

17 — 3:31, non-limited slip
18 — 3.08, non-limited slip
19 — 3.55, non-limited slip
26 — 3.73, non-limited slip
27 — 3.31, non-limited slip
H9 — 3.55, limited slip
B6 — 3.73, limited slip

B9 is a LS, but I don't know which axle or ratio. A letter as the first digit always means LS.

17 is a 1/2-ton axle (8.8" or 9") and 27 is a heavier axle (probly 3/4-ton).
