i can not seem to get the idle air motor to work
on the red wire i have 12volts on the grey i get 2.6 volts.......
bad computer????
onthe koeo test i get code 31
on the koer test i get code 31 and 42
Code 31 is a EGR fault code. Code 42 is a oxygen sensor code.
What is your problem? How do you know the idle air motor is not working? Taking a wild guess, your engine must not want to idle? If so, you might want to temporarily block off the EGR, and see if it will idle. It if where leaking and stuck, it would give you the code 31, and also make the engine idle rough.
Also, if you unplug the idle air motor, the engine should quit. If it doesn't, you have messed with the idle stop screw and have it open too far.
the idle air motor never moves ......... i have checked
plugged in or unplugged no differance...it idles fine till i turn the air on then it dies intermittantly.... i could adjust the idle at the thottle stop but then it would idle high all the time.
i will try blocking off the egr and see if there is any difference

The idle air motor supplies air to make the engine idle the correct speed.(I know you understand this). But what you don't seem to understand is the engine should idle way down and die if the idle air motor is unplugged. If it doesn't, then that means your idle stop adjustment is too far in. You need to turn the idle stop screw slower, not higher, so the idle air motor has some control over the idle, and if it's unplugged, the engine quits.
i understand but i need a truck that runs and with the idle air motor not working if i adjusted it as you say the truck would never run...........
i have tried it........does anyone know if the voltages i am getting at the idle air motor are correct?
