Question Rear Dana 60 diff plug tool size

Anyone know what kind of a tool I need to pull the differential grease plug on a Dana 60 (rear)? I was planning on just doing it tomorrow morning, but it looks like an "innie", not an "outie".

Looks to be something between 5/8 and 7/8, but that's me just guessing...

Talking

And while I'm at it: There's a 4-way fitting welded (?) between the brake backing plate and the U-bolts/springs. Three go to brake, one to a loose hose - vacuum, from the looks of it... My guess is this hooks into the rear diff to provide vacuum assist to the brake system, but I don't know where the other end is supposed to go. "Breather"? and where do I find it? Truck came with it laying atop the gas tank...

The loose hose has nothing to do with vacuum. It's hooked to the axle vent. This keeps pressure from building up inside the axle housing when it warms up to prevent leaks. The hose raises the vent higher up to help keep water and mud out. It should be cliped to the upper part of the frame rail.
Don't know about the wrench size though, but if it's a square drive try a 1/2" ratchet. If that's not big enough it's probably 3/4". You could measure it with a tape to see.

This is an F100 w/ a Ford 9" rear but the idea is the same on the axle vent

Cool, thanks... So I'll just mount her up somewhere out of the way and expect it to vent normally.

That design has lines to each rear wheel (with the larger diameter tube to on the top going the distance to the right rear)?

There are no brake lines on the axle in that pic, the line you see is coming from the master cylinder. The brake lines would come from the brass block on the axle tube if it were completed at the time of the pic.

In the picture the flexible brake line is the feed from the master cylinder, when I took this picture, the hardlines that go to the right and left wheels hadn't been installed yet. This is a picture of the left (drivers side) rear wheel. Although the brake hose appears to go to the rear, if you look closely you can see that the hardline that's connected to the hose does a 180 and actually runs towards the front.

So what's the larger diameter hard line - looks like it makes a turn in the direction of the... fuel line... of course.

Now I've gotchya. Thanks for the explanation.

Learning. Slowly, but at least I'm learning

Yup, the larger hard line is the fuel line.
