What would you do?
I am about to have my tranny rebuilt but have just a few more questions. I've found used and remanned ones online WAAYYY cheaper than the rebuild price for mine. The cheapest estimate I've gotten is $2300.
Should I go with the rebuild and be wary of the cheaper deals or has anyone ever had any good luck with "bargain" tranny's? Is there a better one than E4OD that bolts up easily with little or no fab work?
Hopefully this will be the last of the tranny questions and you won't have to hear about it anymore. I know I'm tired of talking about it.

I went to a guy in Hutto (by Taylor but almost to Round Rock), was a little less than $2300 and included a shift kit and upgraded torque converter. I was very pleased with the results, drove like different truck after that rebuild.

For what it's worth, I would definitely go with the local rebuild over a web sale re-manufactured option. When it comes to the transmission there is something nice about having the shop that did the work close.

Keep in mind that used and reman's are going to be your exact transmission. It wont have any upgrades. If you want to put in a tranny that is going to go again and instead of spending 1600 bucks, now your in it 3200 and wish you did it right the first time. Nows your chance to do it right the first time. There are plenty of small tranny shops that are just as good as a bigger shop. You just need to talk to them. Ask about warranties. Ask about upgrading the torque converter, shift kit, valve body, larger cooler, etc. If they can't do that, see if you can buy the parts from a place like racerx and then have them build. Like i said, do it right the first time if you want it to last.
