yeah now i can get a good cam. i was bummed when they werent running when i was looking at putting a cam in. now i can buy one insead of looking around.
Sounds good. The Crane 503901 cam works for the EFI engines.
Hey Harte3;
I was looking into a whole cam kit with the 503901. Do you know if you could just swap this into a 94 EFI without doing anything to the computer and have it make a difference? I have heard that you must mess with the ECM in order for it to even run properly if you change the cam from stock specs. Do you know anyone who has done this without recurving or messing with the computer or do you believe it will be beneficial without changing the ECM to reflect the differences the cam will make?
Thanks if anyone has experience running this cam with no other changes please let me know.
Try a search using 503901 cam as the term. A number of posters have used that cam in their EFI and IIRC, Crane's information stated it is computer compatible. Since Crane is up again, try contacting their Techs on specifics. You might also find a 503905 cam listed and as I recall, it is the same thing with a different number.
One thing to watch for. S&S Cycle bought Crane cams. The word I get from the motorcycle crowd is poor internal machining. Either their bike engines will get better or the cams will get worse. Time will tell.
I think I have one of those cards, if I can just remember where it is. It looks just like this one in my hand, has my name on it same as this one. Now where the duce did I put it. OBCB
