It appears the PO of my truck cut an inch and a half off the coils when he did the disk brake upgrade. I have read old posts using the search and it seems this is giong to cause problems with alligning the truck, true? If so what's the least expensive way to correct this. Would new springs be the answer. The Po wanted it lower for reasons of his own. I would like to solve this without buying new I beams that I can't afford anyway. Thanks in advance for any help.
I think I would go yarding, looking for coils from a 65-72 100 and swap them in. No idea what they might run but I wouldn't think they'd be much.
Post your location, maybe another reader here that might be close by would offer help. I swapped the complete system when I swapped to the disc front end, but my old parts are long gone.
Thanks John, I live about twenty miles south of Boston on the south shore. I like that idea as I can just put it back where it was pre disk change. I found springs new online, I think at Rock auto can't remember right now but I seem to remember cost was not too bad. I will look into that. We still have a few junk yard around here also. Donald
Just wanted to say I ordered a new pair from Rockauto. At just under a hundred bucks to my door I can live with that. I figured at that price I can't go wrong. Thank you John for your help it looks like it will be less bother than I thought.
Rockauto sells Moog brand springs... which should be good. Just curious, did you get the variable rate or constant rate? I just bought the CC808 variable rate springs a few weeks ago. They're a little thicker than stock. I won't know how they work 'till I can get the truck back on the road.
