02 Expedition Clunking on stopping?
02 Expedition Clunking on stopping?
I am currently experiencing a large clunk from what seems to be the rear of the vehicle when coming to a complete stop. I also notice it when you get on the gas pedal hard starting off from a stop. I don't notice any hesitation in expy. I don't think it is transmisson related. The driveshaft seems solid. and don't notice any noise from it. What I have read is on the forums is that is a stabilizer link or bushings. Can someone please inform me of what you all think it might be and if it is a bushing how do you tell if they are bad. Thanks in advance
Check your rear trailing arms (lower control arms) to see if one of them broke.
Worn stabilizer bushings will be more apt to give you thumping noises as you go over bumps.
Here's what a broken one looks like:

alloro,
Control arms seem to be fine, no real rust on them and they seem to be in decent shape, not sure if they are the originals seem to be almost brass colored and look newer. Bought in 07 has about 70,000 miles on on it. Thought it might be the swaybar links because bushing doesn't seem to be taking up complete gap. If started noticing the noise when turning the truck a hard right or a tight right, and it has progressed to the stopping and starting. Thanks for the ideas if you got more please let me know.
