hey guys im usually in the powerstroke forum but my dad is having some problems with his 02' v-10 f-250. He was headed home about 10 miles away yesterday evening. he said it slowly started losing power. at first you could still give it about 3/4 throttle, over the ride home it slowly got worse and worse. wen he got home it would barely run 15-20 and if your throttle it much it dies out. i'm thinking he needs to put a fuel filter in it, as it has 150k on it and he cant remember last time he put one in it. the truck is all stock and he just uses it for work. thanks for your help guys im hoping i can get it back on the road pretty quick
he changed the fuel filter and it seemed to help some. it'll go about 40 now but still not right. i told him to check the air filter next. is there any way to check the cat myself?
I have a 99 V10 doing the same thing. Idles fine just seems like it doesn't want to go when you push on the gas. Was checking to see if there was any info on here and found your post.
What do you check for in the cat? Is it flow restriction? Or something else?
i would guess it is flow restriction. on my truck you just beat all the ***** outta the cat and put the shell back in line but i dont think you can do that on these gas trucks. this site is a wealth of knowledge im certain our ford brothers will help us figure this out peter and welcome to FTE , glad to have you here
bump. i found out the fuel pump is bad, does any body know how hard it is to repalce in these trucks? some people told me it was easier to just pull the bed
