2004 expedition transponder key problems

I had recently put in a remote start on my truck and when I was putting the trim back on the steering column I managed to rip the plug that goes into the sensor that recognizes the chip or code in key.
Ford does make a replacement pigtail and they told me which wires go where but I cant seem to get the thing to start. The security light on dash still flashes real fast telling me its not recognizing the key.
I didnt get all the info I would like from the dealer, is there a step I am missing? is there a websight or someone who has done this before?
I am still using the original sensor which looks fine and ford said once you plug it in the security system should reset and recognize it..
Any help would be awesome.

Perhaps the problem has to do with the remote starter and not the sensor or the pigtail. What are you using with the remote starter to satisfy the PATS?

If I am not mistaken the Bypass would need to be reprogrammed or the remote start would not allow the vehicle to start via the starter kill feature. On my you turn the key to on wait for the theft light to go out turn to off then back to on wait for the theft light to go out again and then press the remote start button on the remote. I will look it up later to make sure.

I had the remote start working before I busted off the plug. I had installed a bulldogsecurity remote start with the bypass. that system has a loop that goes around the sensor with a key in the bypass box. I am putting a key directly into the ignition and I do not have the loop currently around the sensor.
But that does bring up a good point. I think I will unplug the power on the remote start and see if it will allow the security system to reset or do whatever its suppose to do so it can recognize the key.
In the bullydog remote start and with the 2004 expeditions with wiring the remote start there are no security shutoffs wired in. once the ignition recognizes a key it allows everything to work.

Then your next step is to test the sensor for continuity at the plug.

do you know where i can find a wiring diagram online? all I got from the dealer is the color of the wires, so far that is my only source for information and its borderline useless, its like they dont want me to fix it hmmmm...
I do have a friend in town that has a shop and and endless supply of scan tools and info I am sure i can get help from him. he is the one that found the part number for the pigtail I needed. The ford dealer here couldnt find it. It would have caused them to work possibly.

Grab your buddy's scan tool and see what PATS DTCs it can pull. That's the only way you're likely to determine what is wrong short of just replacing stuff.

The PATS transceiver module (that's the pickup sensor around the key cylinder) consists of an electronics section and an antenna. Neither the WSM or the EVTM contains anything in it that would allow you to manually diagnose faults inside that module. Instead, it relies on scan tool communications for diagnosis.

The module connector has 4 leads as follows:

1 - WH/YE - Switched power from CJB fuse F28
2 - BK/LB - Ground from G301
3 - WH/LG - Transmit data to PCM pin 43
4 - GY/OG - Receive data from PCM Pin 42

got it fixed!!
thanks for the numbers and which wires, the dealer had 2 backwards.
I didnt want to just randomly put wires in and plug it in but I went with yours and it recognized it right away!

thanks again...Stuff like this can be frustrating but I now know a lot more about this system than I did before.
