No power to fuel pump

I have a 2002 F-350 4x4 7.3 PSD. The truck was running very rough then died. All fuses checked out to be good. I checked the fuel emergency cut out switch on passenger kick plate and have power in and out. If I jump the fuel pump it will run. Any ideas where i might look for this problem? Is it the PCM? Thanks for any help

Fuel pump only runs for about 20 seconds with key on, engine off. If it's not running at all, check all your fuses again. Not sure which one is for your fuel bowl heater, but when it blows, it will take out the power to your pump.

Read from the start of this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...ml#post8280219 It may prove helpful. Same year truck as yours. Fuel bowl heater is Fuse #30.

Is this meant as a joke?

No joke, i've seen where a few people that have had no starts and it was the PCM said they got no wait to start light when turning the ignition on, and the fuel pump comment meant that at no time does it kick on, but if I hook it direct, the truck starts and runs fine.

Gotcha. Your '97 truck made me question the intention of your statement. The PCM, wiring, or relay can be a possible cause. We just want to eliminate the more common ones that are easy fixes first.

Don't forget there is also a fuel pump relay, outlined in red in this power distribution diagram for a 2002. Also note that a PCM relay contact and a PCM signal control the fuel pump relay operation.

Don't ask me where that fuel pump relay is because I don't know.

My 2002 has done the same thing about a week ago, no power at the fuel pump. I have diligently gone through the circuits as the diagram shown above and confirmed that I have virtually no electric power at the pump (0.024 volts) while someone turns my iginition key. I then removed the kick panel where the emergeny shut off valve is, and confirmed the exact same voltage when the key is turned with the pig tail remvoed. I then confirmed 12.0 volts at the fuse F2.40. So using the circuit diagram once again, my trouble shooting points me to the fuel pump relay. The heater bowl is not in this immediate circuit illustration, so I have not checked (but will check just to be safe). I have searched many threads for a 2002, and I have found two possible locations for the fuel pump relay, 1st: Someone wrote for a 2002 V10 gasoline truck, that under the hood, next to the master cylinder, are two junction boxes. One closest to the fender contains two small relays and one large relay. The closest to the fender is suppose to be the fuel pump relay. Then I have read on a separate post, a 2002 diesel truck Accessory Relay K126 or C2075 is the fuel pump relay. This relay is located on the fuse panel directly above the fuel pump fuse. This morning, I am going to check both, and go to my dealer to buy replacements, and talk to a tech if I can. If this does not fix my problem. I am going to start all over again. I have trouble shooted my truck for over a week, with no success.

Runco0318,
According to my Ford repair dvd, the fuel pump relay on an '02 is behind the radio in the Acc Relay box.

Fuel Pump Relay
Removal and Installation

Remove the radio.
Remove the relay cover.

Remove the fuel pump relay.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Thank you, but I have confirmed that 2002 does not have fuel relay there from reading several posts, and with 1st hand experience a couple of days ago. I received an email just this morning from a tech at the local dealership that says there is no servicable fp relay for the 02s. He is suggesting I check the injector module relay.

Could a bad Injector Driver Module (IDM) cause no voltage at the fuel pump?

Did you ever solve your problem. This sounds almost exactly like the problem I am having. How did you jump the fuel pump. I have just used a 12V battery direct to the terminals. Can even start the truck and let it run from the battery.

Thanks for the update.
Did you locate the fuel pump relay? I believe it is under the hood on the driverside by the firewall. The appear to be two sets of relays there (5 total) I am thinking the FPR is one of these. And BTW, how do you remove them. If you just pull them out they seem hard to pull. Is there a trick?
