Hi all
I am having stereo issues. I have a '96 ranger XLT. I believe it has the premium sound package with the factory amplifier. The problem I'm having is that the stereo works but I am not getting any sound from any of the speakers. I just replaced the stereo and am still having the same problem. I assume that I am having a problem with the amp. Is there a fuse for the amp hiding somewhere? Where is the amp located in the truck? Can I just splice the speaker wires going into and out of the amp and just bipass it?
Any help would be GREATLY apreciated. I am leaving for Florida from Minnesota on Sunday. It would be great to have some tunes for the long road ahead.
Thanks for your reply. I got the problem solved, sort of. I had checked all the fuses inside the cab and they were all fine. I didn't think to check the fuse/relay box in the engine compartment. To fix my problem, I finally found the amp. Ford does a great job hiding that thing. It was behind and above the right rear speaker. If you have hands like a 5 year old it would be easy to get to. For the rest of us, good luck. After finding it I took the rear panel off and just bypassed the amp completely. The aftermarket stereo has enough power to run the speakers fine. However changing a fuse in the engine compartment might have been an easier fix.
