Disc Brake Calipers on a 56 F100

Folks,

My 56 came with a front disc conversion. In two seperate documents I got from PO, it is stated that 1. conversion kit was bought from CPP, and that 2. Calipers are from a 78 Ford 4x4.

The calipers are pretty rusty. They probably work fine, but I want to buy new (rebuilt) units.

Short of buying them from CPP, can anyone give me a tip on how to order these through the regular aftermarket parts outlets? I've not looked yet, but if there is a p/n stamped on the caliper I might be able to go to the Ford dealer and see if they can look it up.

If I have to I can get them from CPP.

Here are pics of the caliper on the truck, and the same kit from the CPP website:

Any assistance is appreciated.

Gustave

I used the search function on Autozone, and found them quickly.

make sure you look at them good before you go, or take one off..

I think you guys are right. I just scratched around on Autozone, entered an 82 Camaro, and the picture that came up (assuming it's accurate) looks a lot more like the ones on my 56 than any Ford truck model I've entered.

Thanks.

Dr G,
those calipers look OK as long as the bleeder screw isn't stuck, when I replaced mine they were rusted in a few months of driving around in weather. New ones will rust unless you paint them which you could also do with your current ones Auto zone, Advanced, etc sell caliper paint in aresol cans.
