Guys last night i had the windows down and heard a Squeaking grinding, chirping sound coming from my drivers side front wheel. It is an intermittant sound but usually starts up louder when i turn the wheel. But then sometimes it goes away for several minutes driving. I checked everything out, Nothing looks out of the ordinary....Im thinking it could be a bad hub ? any troubleshooting tips ?
OK, today the sound eventually turned into a grinding sound........took wheel off and looked very close sound sounds like its the hub bearing, it has a "catch" in it when i turn it from reverse to forward...... but the wheel did not move either side to side or up and down.....Wouldnt there be alot of play in a bad hub or is this just the startings of a bearing going out.......Just want to make certain before i shell out 200 bucks for a new hub.........thanks
No, the bad bearing just starting to dry out, and grind wouldn't have movement yet.
Did you see any scrapes on the rotor? Just wondering if anything could have lodged in between the pads and rotors? Cheaper than replacing bearings.
I have found them on ebay for cheaper than that.

No the rotor looks fine other than looks like its has glazed over "very slick" for some reason, the other side isnt like that, I am going to take the calipers off today and make sure one isnt cracked or something before i order a hub. The sound still persist even when braking so thats why i think its something other than brakes but definatly going to check it out.
