I went out this AM and I was DOA. Instead of jumping the battery I am going to go get a new one today. What should I get? Size and spec recommendations are welcome. T.I.A. for your help. We nee to get the SEARCH back!!! You're killin us Ken.
And you should probably get the charging system checked out just to be sure it is just a battery problem. Buy a good name with a good warranty from a place that will back it up. I get all that from a little hole-in-the-wall local place that specializes in batteries and good service.
Diehards are good. But I've used Optima spiral cell batteries in my '97 Expy 5.4l, 4x4 tow truck (with 9 additional high powered lights) my cruising sail boat and my offroad TT for four years now and think they are the very best for your money. No maintenance, no corrosion, and totally reliable. They can come back 100% after being down 100%. No other batteries will do that. You can buy cheaper, but you then also buy frequent maintenance and care, shorter life, and unexpected cell damage due to vibration or extreme temperature.
Hope this helps.

We sell Diehard - great batteries. I always recommend the Gold. In addition to the 3 year full replacement warranty, you get 100 months prorated and you can have warranty work done at any Sears or NTB (you guys like my sales pitch? )
My personal favorite is the Duralast Battery. Don't get the gold. For the extra 30 bucks you have to spend it's not worth it. The regular Durlast has a 3 year warranty while the Gold has a 4 year warranty. Batterys only last about 3 years anyway. Also they both only have the one-year free replacement warranty. The rest of the warrany is a pro-rated warranty!!
In my opinion, there isn't a better battery than the Optima. Very much worth the money. There isn't any fluid inside, so it cannot leak and corrode. Don't be fooled by the other spiral cell batteries either. Look for the optima name on the top. Interstate also puts their name on the Optima batteries, although you will still find the Optima name on the plastic case.
