Leveling kit questions???

I was under the impression when I left 4wheelparts that when you put a leveling kit on an X you have to get the tires realigned and also buy a steering component extra to correct fords stock setup because it will not adjust right. Is this true if I just put a 2 inch block in front??? Are there any kits where all you have to install is the kit and not mess with your steering components??? I guess what I am trying to say is what is the best way to make your front end level or 1 inch higher than the back end on an 4x4 05 Excursion???

Do NOT put a block in front. BAD BAD BAD. You can do an add-a-leaf or a new spring pack or a drop down shackle kit to get different levels of lift (depends how high you need to get). The kits should come with a track bar drop-down bracket and the only thing you'll have to adjust is centering the steering wheel. No alignment necessary.

Agreed...NO BLOCKS UP FRONT!

RCD leveling kit. Gives you about 2" and you don't have to buy anything extra.

Koo that sounds like what I am looking for!!! How hard is it to install with a couple of floor jacks. Do you have to drill any holes???

I believe the RCD is difficult to in stall as the springs need removed. Big PITA.
Go get and Edge mini spring pack. It is also 2" and all you have to remove are the U-bolts. That's what I did. Not problem with the alignment. You just need to adjust the steering wheel to be centered up. You can do this yourself.

Then you'll need the 4" F250/350 blocks for the back.

I read the install instruction on the web site... Seems easy enough. Neilc88 why would I need a 4" block in the back??? Wouldnt that make the front end lower again??? I would like the front to be 1inch higher than the rear if it is possible. Do you have any pics of the install on your X??? Thanks for all the info neilc..some reps are in order.

If I put an 1" longer shock in front could I get that extra inch of lift??? With the spring pack of course. That would be just about where I want it.

shocks dont lift the vehicle. why would you want to keep the front end higher than the rear. sometimes people who put either the add-a-leaf or new spring pack or the ICON mini spring pack also put the 4" block from an f350 to basically give their truck a cheaper lift. you can still keep the stock shocks because they actually have plenty of leftover travel that is not used with the factory suspension. some upgrade to the f350 shocks from the same year because they are a tad longer but definately not necessary.

i changed my springs to the v code ford springs and it lifted my X almost 2". i then added the 4" f350 block. since mine is an 01, i also got the shocks for an 01 f350 for the front and 01 excursion shocks for the rear. I got bilsteins for front and rear. order stock length not ones for a lifted truck if all you are doing is the leveling kit. heres a pic..its leveled out perfectly.

This is what I used! $225 dollars, easy install, and you can use stock shocks! Doesn't get much better than that! LINK BELOW:

Scottman did that spring pack give you a TRUE 2 full inches in the front??? Why I am asking is on my X I have 8.25 inches of wheel well space from tire to body. On the front I have 7.25 iches tire to body. If this pack is a FULL 2" then it will put me right where I want to be for the look I want.

why would you want to keep the front end higher than the rear. Racerx Itsa BRO thing...LOL. JK!! It gives it a prerunner look that I like and will be going for with my n fab bumper I am going to install. Star tattoos anyone???

ok, thats what really gives the personal touch to everyones X's. ( i saw other topics on the BRO thing with the black wheels and socks thing--i like chrome--lol) just remember that just because you measure the wheel well space does not mean the truck will level. the wheel well openings are not the same heights. an X LEVELED out will have different wheel well opening heights.
