I am in the middle of acquiring parts to copy BDrummonds ie Brandon, on his van turbo path. I have found a 2002 Spyder, collector, pedestal, driver's side exhaust manifold, and 2005 6.0 I/C. I am wondering what else I need to make the swap and if I even need the exhaust manifold. Also, what will bellowed up-pipes get me? Is the collector a.k.a the y-pipe? I am also planning on ordering new plenums as well. Can I take the EBPV out of the pedestal or to I have to find one w/o from the factory? Anything else you guys think of would be great, thx
for the turbo swap you need up pipes, babies butt, turbo, pedestal. spider, plenum's and boots for the spider to plenum's...the exhaust manifold is not needed...the bellows have a longer life then the donuts..no power gains..I took the EBPV flapper out and used a 3/4" freeze plug to plug the hole in the exhaust outlet..then you need to gut the parts out of the plenum and plug it..I think a 1" bolt about 3/4" long..tap the hole in the pedestal where the rod use to stick out...put thread tape on the bolt with a rubber washer or oring and a flat washer.. thread the bolt in..on the inside of the plenum use a locking nut, washer and a rubber washer or oring and snug it all up..Ron's turbo and some sponsors also sells a deleted pedestal for around 125...i used this vid for gutting..but i added the rubber washer and nut just a piece of mind.. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v3...GutandPlug.flv
dont get sucked into the high flow outlet...test have been done and there is no gains...same HP as deleting the EBPV in a stock unit..but the sponsors do sell the stock outlet with the valve already deleted to...
