Odometer stopped working
Out of the blue, my odometer (and trip odometer) stopped working the other day after a fill-up when I reset the trip odometer. [This 97 model has a mechanical dial odometer, not digital.] Back home, I noticed the trip odometer was still zero, and the odo still showed the same reading from the gas station. 
(I keep detailed records of my mileage and gas purchases...since day one.)
I pulled the instrument cluster, thinking a cable had failed or a gear might have broken, only to find out there's no cable
, and their appears to be a small motor that spins the dials. With the way the cluster is assembled, I didn't want to crack it open to explore it further. 
Can anyone recommend a good odometer/speedometer repair shop? Want to avoid paying $$$ to a dealer for a new cluster! Thanks!

I had the same problem. To fix it, I bought a cluster off eBay for about $50 and swapped the need parts to my cluster. Everything is work fine now.
Did you try pushing the trip reset again? Maybe something got stuck the last time you pushed it and it didn't settle correctly.

I'd of thought it was cable driven also. I don't know of anyone that fixes those. Does it look like the small motor would be easy to pull ? Or you could just pull one at a junk yard to replace it.

Thanks again, alloro! I just checked and found a local recycler with two of them available...will try to get it cheap and start rebuilding mine.

John another thought here, have you looked for a blown fuse? There is a fuse that controls the odometer. If that fuse is blown, it may also cause the overdrive off button not to work correctly. I have seen that issue before. Been a long time though
