A/C Hose assembly leaking

A/C Hose assembly leaking

It is just the hose closest to the groung (with metal clamp). It is leaking, but I'm not sure if I can tighten/seal the leak, or if I have to but the whole assembly?

Any ideas?

The one side comes from the radiator, then goes through the metal cylinder, then out, and then the leak is where that output hose then butts up to the metal - I can see the tear in the hose... spraying a fine mist of coolant...

The torsion belt is also frayed to hell where the mist must have hit during tearing/bursting...

The leak is on this hose, back where it meets the other metal clamp.

See the lower left of the picture above, that is what it looks like at the other end where the leak is. Is there some type of clamp/tape or means of replacing just the hose?

Unless you have the proper equipment to evacuate and recharge your A/C system, its highly recommended that you have a qualified tech replace your hose and possible o- ring. Any refrigerant in your system will need to be recovered first before the system can be opened for repairs.

It appears the only way to fix this is to buy the whole assembly ($100-200)... Do they make a hose repair kit that would work for this... it is a very small tear, which was caused by a frayed torsion belt that repeatadly smacked the hose

That hose is rated for about 600psi or better but the highest pressure it sees is about 250-275. It also sees high temps from the hot liquid refrigerant.
You know what you need to do, you just don't want to believe it. (I know the feeling). You can try the repair kit, but ultimately you will have to replace the hose assembly. Anything else will just be throwing money away.

The only other real option is to remove the hose assembly and take it to an AC shop or a local NAPA that does AC lines. They may be able to replace the damaged rubber.
Either way, you will need to have a shop evacuate and recharge the system.
