Whats the deal with this? I got the arm back on the bushing and within 20 mins it popped back off! are the bushings shot? or are the arms bent?!? I know there has been alot of discussion about this lately so that is why im asking this now. I also get that "pop" when you hit a bump in a turn, and I went to go check it out, and this is what I found...
Are you talking about the trac-bar (which connects the front axle to the frame) or traction-bar bushings; aftermarket product connecting the rear axle to the frame or the torsion-bar connecting the front axle to the frame to prevent body roll?
u shaped bar that is connected to the front axle and then connected to the frame by rods. At that junction where the bars meet are rubber bushings that are tightened down by a bolt & nut. The right side slipped off.
That's the torsion-bar. The rods should not slip off of the bushings. It sounds to me that the bushings are shot. I'm not sure if Ford will sell just the bushings without the entire link. You could try your local auto parts store (like NAPA). In the interium you can put a body washer on the bolt to "capture" the link. You could just let the one side off until you get the new bushings but you will notice body roll when cornering.
The links have completely failed, and need to be replaced. You can use OE parts or replace the bushings. A quick search will turn that up as it's been discussed recently and there is a good writeup on it out there.
