Ever hear of these bands?

There's a concert going on as I speak, in Golden Gate Park.

A 3 day event with about 65 bands.

Here's a list of bands, most of which I've never even heard of.

Have you heard any of these bands?

I'm a 46 model, but I listen to a few songs

anyway
Tom Petty -- big in the 70s
Steve Winwood -- same era?
Regina Spektor -- from Russia -- recent artist -- pretty interesting

Heard of -- but that's it
Radiohead
widespread panic
drive-by truckers

You probably know more of them than I do

Banging my head on the desk, wishing I had money right now- I'm missing a great show just 40miles from me. Queensryche (with a live orchestral accompaniment), Seether, Shinedown, and a few others.
It's the return of an annual event called Pain in the Grass.

Damn.

My taste in music is wide and varied. My number-1 button on my truck radio is set to a classical station but my CD's are mostly Bluegrass and Dixieland (I once played trumpet and sax in Dixieland bands). Last night I had trouble sleeping so I turned on the TV at 3:00 AM. There was an Eric Clampton festival from Chicago (don't know when it was taped) and it was GREAT! B.B. King, Willie Nelson, Sherril Crowe, some great pickers and a host of other artists filled the stage. No doubt in my mind that the U.S. of A. has a bunch of musical talent.

You never heard of Tom Petty?

Whew....he & Steve Winwood are what you would call "A" list musical acts (as in invited to perform at the Superbowl, etc.)

The concert that dono refers to above (form 2007) is available on DVD & I highly recommend it for any fan of the blues....that was one magic evening! He probably caught it on a PBS channel as they have been using it as a fundraiser.

Hard to believe that they are playing in SF.

I've just never thought of SF as a Southern rock town. They are huge down here in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma.

You'd be surprise the variety of music and its fans here, and in the Bay Area.

Granted, it's not Southern Rock like in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and the like,
but there is a mix.

Rock is a bit more prevalent here, then in most other states.

But it's all good, don't you think?

I just recently seen Tom Petty and Steve Winwood....both were excellent and stood the test of time.

Tell me what you think of Primus. Claypool is one of the most intricate bass players of our time.

I've only heard of the Drive-by Truckers because some piece of music software I have on my computer has a song by them in its sample music. Pretty decent, I like the sound okay but not really my thing.

I've heard of just a few of the bands listed, the only one I'd be interested in hearing is the one with Bela Fleck. Hot banjo picker, really innovative...
