Banging my head on the desk, wishing I had money right now- I'm missing a great show just 40miles from me. Queensryche (with a live orchestral accompaniment), Seether, Shinedown, and a few others.
It's the return of an annual event called Pain in the Grass.
My taste in music is wide and varied. My number-1 button on my truck radio is set to a classical station but my CD's are mostly Bluegrass and Dixieland (I once played trumpet and sax in Dixieland bands). Last night I had trouble sleeping so I turned on the TV at 3:00 AM. There was an Eric Clampton festival from Chicago (don't know when it was taped) and it was GREAT! B.B. King, Willie Nelson, Sherril Crowe, some great pickers and a host of other artists filled the stage. No doubt in my mind that the U.S. of A. has a bunch of musical talent.
Whew....he & Steve Winwood are what you would call "A" list musical acts (as in invited to perform at the Superbowl, etc.)
The concert that dono refers to above (form 2007) is available on DVD & I highly recommend it for any fan of the blues....that was one magic evening! He probably caught it on a PBS channel as they have been using it as a fundraiser.
I've only heard of the Drive-by Truckers because some piece of music software I have on my computer has a song by them in its sample music. Pretty decent, I like the sound okay but not really my thing.
I've heard of just a few of the bands listed, the only one I'd be interested in hearing is the one with Bela Fleck. Hot banjo picker, really innovative...
