Yep that right, Comet was the choice for great white walls. The parts stores use to have the slimmy stuff that the tile dealerships had, that seemed to work so good. With the lack of whitewalls nowadays, Comet may be all you can find.

Bleach white does an amazing job. Up in Canada I have also used SOS pads, they are very fine wire wool with a soapy solution in it, get it wet and scrub.
If you use Westley's Bleach White tire cleaner, which is preferred, there is usually no hard scrubbing necessary.Often, the dirt just rolls right off as you spray.Using Comet,Ajax or the like, and scrubbing with either steel wool or a stiff wire brush, while necessary for severely dirty or neglected tires, abrades them slightly, opening up the rubber and causing it to collect more dirt in the future.Steve.
Westley's sprayed on then I scrub with green scotchbrite pad which they sell to clean pans with. I scrub, then in one pass, I take a clean rag and wipe off the residue, pressing hard and stopping to turn the rag to a clean spot every 6in or so. Always keeps mine looking like new. The truck can be dirty, but the 'walls got to have the shine!
