Anybody put a sub enclosure for 12s behind the seat of a crewcab superduty? I was wondering if you made your own, and if so, the demensions, or if you bought a pre-fab box and who makes one to fit... If anyone runs 10s, I may go that route also.. Thanks!

Hey Ryan that's a sweet ride you have there! :7 As far as the enclosure goes try to stay away from the pre-fab boxes, you should have room for some good quality 12's back there just watch the mounting depth of your subs. Ever thought of a JL Audio stealthbox? They make a pretty cool box to replace the bottom portion of the center front seat,it reuses the original seat coverings and remains fully functional, that is of course assuming that's the style of seat in your truck. The only downfall is that this enclosure only uses a single 10".

So, the stealth box goes under the seat? I have the rear bench, but it doesnt look to me like there is enough room to fit a sub under there.. I've heard of the stealth boxes for the Ranger and F150, but I was'nt aware that they made them for the SuperDuty.. Most "truck" boxes I've seen have a bottom depth of 8 to 8 and a half inches.. I measured mine off and it looks to be about 6 and three quarters... So, I figured I'd have to make some custom enclosures, and probably run a couple of Kicker Solobaric 12s... with the limited amount of airspace behind the seat, I would think that any other regular woofer would be restricted by the lack of box size... I'm no pro, so comments are appreciated.. I'd also like to hear about some tried and true methods that you guys may have hooked up in your SuperDuty's...

Sorry Ryan what I meant was the stealthbox replaces the center lower seat cushion in the FRONT seat, here is a link to it http://www.jlaudio.com/home/stealthboxes/superduty.html

Oh, ok.. I gotcha... looks like a pretty clean way to go, however, I have the Captains chairs up front, so it wont work for me.. I'm sure somebody has built a box to fit behind the rear seat, and I sure have my heart set on dual 12s...

Hi Ryan
Nowadays you can do just about anything you want with car(truck) audio. Your only concerns are with your sub box are box volume and your subwoofer mounting depth .How you get that box volume does'nt matter. If your box is just deep enough for the sub ,make it a little wider and or a little taller to get your volume. If I recall correctly ,A Kicker Solobaric sub takes less than a cubic foot box volume per sub times two is less than two cubic feet .It might be tight but you should have that behind you seat. Now to calculate box volume . Lets say the optimum box volume is .75, multiply .75 by 1728 =1296 cubic inches .Lets say you have 6" depth on the bottom and 2.5 at the top
add 6+2.5=8.5 and divide that by 2 for an average of 4.25 and lets say you have 18" in height. Now divide 1296 by 4.25 = 304.94 divided by 18 = 16.94. So you have box dimensions of 18" tall 17" wide 6" deep at the bottom tapering to 2.5 at the top ( all inside dimensions) And you can draw a side view on a piece of cardboard to check your mounting depth. Don't forget about the thickness of your plywood, MDF or whatever when designing your box.Kinda long winded but I hope this helps.

Try this link: http://www.installindex.autoaudio.com/redir.cgi?site=http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/factory/4302/fordzilla.html

The stereo system is the only thing worth looking at on this truck, but maybe you can get a few ideas from the pictures.

I am considering making my own boes for 2 10" subs in my 2000 4X4 Crewcab.

Good Luck

Murph
