Hi,
I brought my 2004 Eddie Bauer Expedition here to the UK where there are no Ford Dealers around that support it when things go wrong. I did the same perviously with a Explorer with no issues.
However I have a prob and being a tech novice I'm after some advice. I'm not sure if there are 1 or 2 problems but they started at the same time.
First a few days ago I started to notice a very hot burning smell which I first thought was binding brakes but a local garage reckons not, it seems to be going away but I don't like unidentified probs like that. Any thoughts on a hot friction kind od smell?
Second while looking under the bonnet (hood) I found a smooth 4" metal rod which I think was thrown up from the road, it was sitting on top of the engine near the brake fluid reservoir. Under the reservoir there is a hose that looks like a vacuum one that is dangling in space (see the photo). I can't seem to find where it's supposed to go or what it does. However the warningligh for the airbag has just started to flicker on and off and today ison solid the whole time.
Any jargon-free advice welcome, I really dunno much about engines.
Thanks
Mike
mine is the same way. I could not feel a vacuum on it. but mine is attached to the brake line leaving the master cylinder by a clip. I could not tell where it is to go ether. I will have mine to have the oil change will have them look at it then and I will get back to ya
My '03 is the same, it curves up under the master cylinder and ends. If you hadn't mentioned it I never would noticed (I hadn't in 5 years). It looks like it is intended to be a conduit for wires. Maybe for options or features that for one reason or another were not installed.
