V/B F250 Springs without the lift...
The original object of those of us who figured out what works best in the spring swap was not additional capacity, but rather to get the front springs away from the frame stops (bumpers).
After a little while, the original front springs of a Excursion sag. There is not a lot of room to begin with between the spring and the bumper, and it is even worse with the Diesels. After the sag, you find 1 to 1.5 inches of travel left on the springs, and this makes a very harsh ride. The diesels would many times have no room at all, and the spring would be on the frame stops at all times.
Changing to a slightly higher capacity and greater arched spring from the Superduty line addressed this problem, and cured it very well.
The B code (or F code) rear springs and blocks addressed the soft rear spring system and the heavy sagging when hauling people, or a trailer. It also brought the lift up to be even with the 1.75 inch rise in the front.
The only way to improve the ride is to raise it. It does not have to be much, like with V's and B's, but you have to get room between the axle and the frame to provide spring travel.
