97 4.6L swap???

I've got a '97 4.6L and want to swap it out its sludge and junked. But wanna go back to carburated. Has anybody done this. Does anyone know what engines will line up with my transmission? Im not worried about wiring or computers and such we can make that work. My main concern is whats gonna fit the tranny.

If you want to go carbed, unless you are stuck with a 4x4 why not just sell the tranny and drop in a combination that works together? The bellhousing doesn't fit the old carbed engines.

I pretty sure there are conversions for using a carb on the modular motors, but you will still have to use some sort of computer for the ignition. The older motors won't bolt to your trans, and if you have an automatic, you need the truck's computer to shift it.
