Easiest would be a IDI wether it be a 6.9 or 7.3. Which engine is in there now? Being a 150 you might want to look at a 4cyl diesel out of a ranger (weight reasons). Any way you look at it your going to need engine mounts, transmission, misc accesories, cooling sys upgrade, suspension upgrade... $$$$$

Another one to look at is a Cummins 4BT out of a bread van.

Does it run good now? Just run it at a max 2100 rpm and pretend it's an oilburner.

OK, still want a smoker? Forget the mini-OTR V8 engines. They weigh over twice what your 302 does, not to mention the transmission.

The Ranger diesel might be a candidate.

Go here for lots of info.

You'll save a lot of gas doing this.
