4BT Engine swap into 1986 F-350

New to the Forum but have always loved the 80 to 86 Ford Trucks. I am currently in the middle of a 4BT Cummins swap into my 86 F-350. I have an extensive build up thread at the 4btswaps forum, but thought I would share it on this forum as well and well mabey try and learn more about these trucks from others who apreciate them as much as I do. Hope to have lots of good posts and discusions about the swap! Thanx.

Welcome, thats a good looking truck you got there. I plan on installing a 5.9 CTD in my truck someday, I'm saving some cash to get a donor truck. What made you go with the 4bt as opposed to the 5.9?

I choose the 4BT for fuel mileage, I have used a 1 Ton Chevy for many years with the small block 350, It had enough power to pull any load I ever put in it then I bought Willie, the 86 F-350 he had a DOVE 460 bored .030 with a mild cam he was an x pulling truck with the engine ripped out and the Dove put in. That was when he was pretty blue. I bought the truck to haul firewood and do ood jobs with. I loved the power hated the fuel bill. The 4BT will give me small block HP big block Torque and better then 300 6 fuel millage. I am matting the 4BT to a ZF 5 speed from a 250 w/ the 300 6. I have installed an HX35W turbo from a 6BTA onto the 4BT and I am using a 2005 Dodge 24V CTD intercooler. A lot of work done with alot yet to do.

I expect to have 210 HP and 350 to 400ftlbs, of torque. It should make 30psi boost easily. I also am installing head studs and will obviuosly turn up the stock VE pump. I think I am going to leave the injectors alone for now until I see my EGT's and feel the power it has.
