42-47 Cowl Vent Mechanism

Need some help with 47 Cowl Vent Mechanism. Seem to have most of the parts, however having trouble with mounting location and maybe I"m missing something (including a source for the screen [not the same as the car]). Can anyone snap a pict of the mechanism (preferably installed) so I can stop "stressing" over it.

Thanks
John

John, The only place I could find a cowl vent screen was in the C&G Early Ford Parts Catalog for about 40.00. for 40-47 ford Pickup. http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~partsort
Sorry but I have already removed the cowl vent from my cab, so I can't show how its goes. I plan to seal it off and weld a plate over the vent opening. If the above link doesn't work try just going to www.cgfordparts.com and clicking on the catalog and putting in cowl vent screen.

Thanks for the reply. Just ordered one. (Since the car version doesn't fit! Its attached to the vent, the truck is independent and fixed)

Here are some photos...

While I was out working on the truck tonight, I snapped a few pics of the cowl vent mechanism on my cab. Hope they help. In one pic you can see what looks like the remains of what I think was a vertical brace that went up to the leading edge of the vent. It's been cut off. The adjustment bolt is also in backward so the serrated washer is on the side opposite the serrated side of the arm. This is how it was when I got it and I haven't had a need to remove it yet. When I do get to that point, I'll try to get some pics of how I put it back in.

Dave

This is kind of an overall pic from under the passenger side dash. The washer on the bolt just to the right of the handle in the pic is the one that belongs on the driver side of the whole assembly. On the far right is what's left of the vertical brace that has been torn out. You can also see the whiskers above where the previous owner tried to weld in some holes.

Here is the attachment to the dash from the passenger side.

Looking up from the driver side. You can see the serrated side of the vertical piece.

Here's the bottom side of the vent from the driver side. You can see how everthing attaches to the vent itself here. About a third of the way across from the left on the horizontal piece you can just make out the remains of the piece that is mostly missing.

Here's some more...

Here you can see how the vent hinges.

It's hard to see, but it appears that this end is riveted to the firewall.

Here's the dash end of things from the driver side.

Let me know if there is anything in particular you'd like to have a better look at. I can focus on that area next time.
