Probably a stupid question, but my 2000 Excursion has a 5.4 gasser, it does have slide pins, corrrect?
Guzzle says there are 3 different caliper designs, what one does my Excursion have? Would I be fine getting the same kit guzzle got for his truck and if not what kit do I get?
Well, since you have to get the slide-pins from a FOMOCO dealer, walk in with your vin# and I'm sure you'll get the correct parts. Engine size does not matter.
BTW... Guzz's tutorials are great... I've followed a couple of them with great success. Good Luck!!!

If I couldn't get the exact Part # I was just going to see if the dealer could get me the correct part. What part # did you use, I believe you did this to your Excursion, right?

I'm unsure if 2000 and 2005 are the same # or not... I do know that early Superdutys and X's had different calipers... especially in the rear. (I used to own a 99SDSCAB and production date was critical when I got brake parts)
As far as the Cryo Powerslots and Hawks... they are in the basement. When I pulled the wheels back in November, the pads and rotors were in excellent shape. Therefore, I'll run what is on my X for the salty winter months and change all when I put the 08 SD 20's on this spring. I haven't made it to the dealership yet to get the slide pins yet... Here in NY winter lasts till April, so I have a few months to get the pins.

Thanks for the info, I think I'll be better off going to the dealership and like you said give them the vin and hopefully I'll get what I need.
This is offtopic, but are close to Cooperstown. I went to New York City this summer and I drove to Amsterdam, NY to visit my cousins and they took my family and I to Cooperstown to see the Baseball Hall of Fame. Its beautiful land out there around Cooperstown, I really enjoyed it.

Yep, Cooperstown is a couple hours up I-88 from my location... I was lucky enough to play a couple of games in high school on Doubleday Field. New York certainly has some beautiful sights to see. Good luck with your problem, I hope I was part of the solution.

Absolutely, once again thanks for your your help. I really appreciate it.
I need to visit my cousins again, but this time during the winter. In South Texas thers not much snow around here (although there was that one Christmas in 2004 when we got something like 7-8 inches of snow) I'd really like to see all the snow you all get up there.
I don't think for this application you can go wrong, but too many times if you order a part by VIN, you don't get what you want, because usually what you want, is an upgrade to what you have!
I too have a 2000 Excursion, but mine is a PSD 4x4. I ordered the exact same part number Guzzle listed on his website (Ford # 2C3Z-2C150-AA. One set per wheel) and the pins worked like a charm!
When I cleaned the bores out, all I did was carefully wrap some Scotch Brite green nylon scrubbing pad around a drill bit and, using my cordless drill, scrubbed out the bore until it was clean and shiny like a brand new nickel!
I was lucky too, three of the four pins pulled right out, but the fourth one was gummed up a little bit and took some coaxing (twist, twist, twist, grunt, pull, repeat a dozen times) to get out. I've read some horror stories where some guys have had their pins completely seized in the bores.

So I'll be fine getting the same part # guzzle and you got? Since I got the 5.4 would it still be the same?

I feel it's pretty safe to say Ford wouldn't change the brake setup on your 2000 Excursion back to the earlier '99 design just because they were putting a 5.4L in it.
Ive found the best trick to pull a stuck pin is to clamp on some vice grips REALLY tight and lay the vice grip on something strong (I used a 6" round steel pipe full of cement next to my buddies driveway, and just hammer the caliper carefully and the pin slides right out. The pin i pulled was VERY seized, but pulled out pretty easy with my method. Just dont get too crazy hammering on the caliper or use a block of wood maybe? Just a tip in case anyone has a stuck pin giving them a tough time.
