Question Pedals...

Oh crap...now I cannot decide between keeping the original pedal setup on the '56 or changing over to swinging pedals!

I'd like to keep the engine compartment clean by leaving the booster & M/C in the original location but....

Who has done what & why????

As I have said in the past, My panel had a mix of hanging hydraulic clutch and thru the floor brake pedals from a PO. The brake was a new manual dual chamber MC. The clutch used a firewall mounted old single chamber brake MC from some unknown 50's era donor. I decided to make everything hanging, use the clutch MC originally designed for the slave cylinder and a boosted dual chamber brake MC. The latter was because both my wife and I were not impressed with the manual disk/drum setup, it required too much pedal pressure for our taste and future use of the truck as a tow vehicle for a 7K# race trailer.
The T56 tranny was from a 93 Camaro, so I used the pedals and both MCs from that application, along with an 8" dual chamber booster. I had to modify the pedal mount to spread the brake and clutch pedal apart to straddle the steering column. The clutch MC is a unique unit. It is a dark grey cylindrical filled nylon unit that mounts at a downward angle below the brake MC. It has a small translucent remote fluid resevoir that I mounted to the firewall to the side of the power brake booster.

I used hanging pedals in my 50 F1, thats what I had available from my donor; I didn't want to shell out for the frame mounted booster. I hear your wanting to keep the firewall clean though. I used an 8" booster from a 98 Explorer, got it free. I modified brake pedal, and mounting bracket. Grafted stock pedals to the hanging arms.

I have a firewall mounted booster/master cyl with a hanging pedal from a 1979 Ford LTD 2. I used the stock accelerator pedal (works great with stock seat) with a Locar cable (Edelbrock carb) works great.

Talking Pedals...

WOW...some kool ideas...thanx...I am leaning towards a booster & new M/C setup in the original location and have been putzin' around with a cardboard mockup of some sort of a skidplate-type protector just for something to do...

Still not sure...definitely would use a remote fill set-up though...

Thanks again...just a few more things to cross off the list.

I'm gonna keep the through the floor pedals!
