Have a 1938 pickup with GM350, TH400, new TCI front suspension, and a 9" Ford rear end. My new set of cool (and cheap) mags fit my front CHevy hubs but not the rear Ford differential. I'm a cruiser not a dragger. Want highway economy.
What rear diff. would allow me to use the new Chevy bolt pattern mags?
If the 9-inch is setup already and fits and is in good shape, you can get new axles through Summit, etc, with whatever BP you want for it.
I don't know the measurements of the S-10 rears, but seems they'd fit under okay...for sure you'd have to relocate the perches and probably get a different U-Joint to adapt.
After all that, seems simpler to just change axles, or have a machine shop redrill yours to the correct BP....just another way to look at things
Dave, I'm going to take a shot at this. The 9" probably has 4-1/2" bolt pattern and the GM discs probably has 4-3/4" Total Cost Involved probably sells ford 11" discs that will fit your TCI spindles which will have the 4-1/2" pattern, probably Ford Granada, thats what most of the MII mfg. use for the Ford patterns. I know it will cost a little but its worth it in the long run. I would stick with the 9" because it's stronger even though you won't be racing. If you want ecomony you can change the gear ratio. Its a little work but worth it, the third member will pull out so you can work on it on the bench.
