He is building a Hummer H1 by himself completely from scratch. The only parts he has bought are the hood and drivetrain. Everything else was made from sheet metal and tubing. The guy does not own a body shop or work in the automotive industry. This is a weekend project he has been working on for a while.
Try and read every page of the thread. I know its really long but there are pictures and progress updates on almost every page.
Very impressive - can't wait to see it when he's finished. After 3+ years that's something to really be proud of. I'm glad to see someone who likes to tackle such an enourmous project.
BTW I like the "I had to learn how to weld" part - lol
I almost forgot to add--don't call them "H1s". As far as I'm concerned, they are the ONLY "Hummers". The others are just re-badged/reworked GM garbage. Sorry. Pet peeve of mine.
i just read all of the posts, and i have to say that i am blown away. this guy is amazing. now guys, go attack the user that called us a bunch of losers at FTE
Seeing this reminds me of one of my worst frustrations: Some of the most talented people in this world have the least availability to resources. I wish the world was more fair.
Meh, I was more impressed by the guy that built a Ford GT40 from scratch INCLUDING the chassis and everything attached to it (I think the only things he actually bought were wheels, engine, transaxle and some drivetrain parts)
Well, crap. I actually found the guy's posts about it on some GT40's message board, but the pictures are all attachments and you have to be a member to view them. Oh well.
