hey guys, ive got my truck at the paint shop and ive cut the bed floor out of it and was planning on running a custom made wood bed floor that is on a hinge, but i have heard of kits available, already done for you, any one have any light to shed on this. it will be wood all through the middle and on the sides, the only thing not wood will be the wheel tub areas, which are your classic rod tubs, for a 12inch wide, 22inch wheel.
example.(without wheel tubs, just the floor is what im lookin for.
The kits usually offer either the steel, or stainless runners, if you are interest in show, don't intend using for hauling, then suggest getting the stainless runners the steel tend to rust in relatively short period of time. Considered checking into the synthetic woods used for decking, not sure if able to get in the right thickness, if I ever have to replace wood bed again, seems it would hold up longer particularly if truck is used a lot for hauling.
try mar-k, They will make custom wood floors for any truck. They have all the parts you will need. Give them a call and tell them what you want because you will need cross members and sill plated to make the total installation.
Check out my gallery. I used synthetic lumber on my flat. It looks good. I over sized my bolt holes to allow for expansion from the California sun. No problems. And best of all there is no maintenance. And it wont split like conventional lumber.
In the uni it will need some custom wood, but when done correctly....SWEET!
We did a 51 F1 pro street that the owner wanted Black corrian Installed, Talk about a deep black with the polished stainless strips and header.....Dang need sungogs just to peek.
