I've tried a search and couldn't find what I was looking for although I know I've seen it here before. The hood hinge on the driver's side doesn't let the back of the hood sit where it should. The rear corner is about a half inch higher than it should be. Is there a way to repair the hinge or do I just need to bite the bullet and spend the $60-$80 per hinge and replace them? Whoever can save me the 120+ bucks with a good way to save the originals will earn the privilege of buying me a beer to celebrate.
I at one time took the driverside hinge and cut the bolt holes into longer slots to lower the hinge down, it did work for a time, but it is sticking up again. I will be getting new ones at sometime.
It has been discussed here a while back. Somebody took their hinges apart welded the oblonged holes and redrilled them round. replaced the rivets with bolts and even put teflon washers in. I know that if your hinges are worn removing the spring will make it so the hood sits flat, you may need to push the rear edge down. If it dosen't settle with the springs removed then check all your body to frame pads, especially the core support and front cab mounts.
Here is an archive post in 61-66 forum on topic. Have seen it in other forums so may try running a search and see if able to find some additional info.
