I noticed that I can't just place my floor jack anywhere under the frame rails to lift my '41 1/2 ton pick-up (unlike other later US-cars with fully boxed frame rails) because the U-shaped frame rails seem to pinch under the load .
Until now I mostly placed the floor jack under the front I-beam axle and under the rear cross-member.
Question: where can the jack be safely placed?
I guess these would be the same places one should use when using a 2 post lift?
This information must have been in the owners manual for swapping tires, as I can't find no hint on this subject in any of the workshop manuals I own.
I have always used the axles as the lifting points. The owner's manuals don't mention where to lift from either. All they say is "Raise the axle with a jack and remove hubcap". The axle is still your best place to lift the truck from.
