i have a 87 ranger and i was looking under it today and notised that thier was no sencers for the cats, just an O2 sencer b4 the cats. So it made me think can i just cut those bad boys out and run it with out them since thiers no sencers for it. as for smog i was thinking about welding flanges to the cats and to the existing exhaust pipe so that way when i need to get it smoged i can just bolt them back on. good idea or no? btw its a 4x4 and i was thinking is thier anyone who makes conversion kits to make it 4x2 I beam?
Why do you want to make it 4x2? Why not just remove the front driveshaft?
If you want to remove the cats, then you did pick the best way, use flanges so they can be reinstalled later. What are you trying to get out of it though? It's gonna make your truck sound different, but that's about it. No real performance gain to be had from it.
