New ones numbers F1TA HA A18SS56
The only dif I can see is old donts have a place for speedo and new one does
maybe change tail houseing or just leave the speed o peice in the new one tranny code on door is M

Not an expert but trans code M is the Mazda 5-speed. The truck probably uses a speed sensor on the rear diff so no need for one on the trans.
You should post this on the `87-`96 F-Series page for some opinion.
