Brake Pull

Ok,, here's the scoop. New rotors, pads but only right side new caliper. Before job warped rotors and some pad wear. Now when stepping on the brake there is a quick jab pull to the left then the right kicks in and it stops. Not a problem below 40 but at highway speeds a fast stop would be bad.

All pins are new lubed. I suspect the left caliper has 1 stuck piston and the other is moving a tad bit faster causing it to grab first. Any thoughts or suggestions. Jim

bleed lines? check for any damage to hoses and tubes? re-do job?

Did you completely bleed the left caliper by opening the bleed valve and pushing the pistons in? This gets rid of all that old, nasty fluid "inside" the pistons.

Yes that is exactly what I did when installing the new parts. Today I plan to replace the other caliper to see if this corrects the problem. When this job is completed it will have both new calipers, rotors and pads. Don't really know where to look next if it still pulls. Jim

I would suggest bleeding again. I had the same issue as you and we bled the hell out of the and it solved the issue. And mine was very severe. As soon as you hit the break it would pull from your hands. Uh oh watch out for the divider. It would scarfe me. be careful and hope you get it fixed soon.

Update. Bleeding the brakes had no effect on pull. I also confirmed the calipers free float and no binding. I have ordered new front flex hoses to from frame to caliper. Waiting on the special order. The pull is so sever that on wet pavement a quick application will lock the wheel. Pads are clean also. Truck isn't being driven until hoses are replaced. I plan to check inside the hose after removal for a defect.

Ok,, so who stocks brake hoses for 4wd Excursion 7.3.

I would have ordered them from Forum sponsor, but I needed them today.

Dealer closed, One shop ordered parts twice and only got 1,, the wrong one.
Another parts place didn't even show the Ex. used hoses and could not get them.
Another national parts whom I expected to have them could get them in 48 hrs.
Parts place #4 could get them in 48 hrs pay in advance.

But

Carquest handed me what I needed across the counter. Granted cost a bit more but when the storms quit I will put them on.

I guess there just aren't enough Ford trucks on the road to warrant stocking them.
