Well I bought another truck. This one is a 53 f-100. It's in better shape than the ones I have, acually pretty good shape. The others are a 54 and a 55. My wife made the mistake of letting me go look at it. I should be bringing it home next week if my work schedule lets me, I can't wait. I tell you what these trucks are coming out of the woodworks over here. The fellow I'm buying this truck from also has a 55 f-350 for sale but it needs quite a bit of work, I also seen a 54 f-250 for sale, and todat I looked in the paper and saw another 55 f-150 for sale. These are the first trucks I've seen in this area since I bought my other two about four years ago off of e-bay. The sad thing is I really haven't been able to work on the 54 or 55 because of my 66 mustang in the garage that I'm rebuilding for the wife to drive. But I'm making room at the house so I can bring the new truck home so I can work on it when I can't work on the mustang. My new truck comes with alot of new parts and I have a 460/c6 already for it sitting in the garage just a waiting, either that or I'll take the 429 I put in my brother's mustang and throw it between the rails. Well at least I have something to look forward to when I get off. Maybe I'll be able to contribute a little now that I will have a truck at the house instead of just lurking around. Guess I've babbled enough and will chat with y'all later.
Wow, you are very lucky to live in such a great area. Here most older trucks that are fairly decent have been sold and taken far away.
The odd one that comes up is slightly restored (?) to some small degree, is way over priced or the seller thinks it`s an easy one to restore when it`s not much of a start.
I'll have to say it is a pretty good area but it is hard to find an older vehicle here without some rust. I live about 30-40 miles from the coast so you can imagine the salt in the air takes its toll. I'll also have to agree that you can't have too many trucks. My wife already asked me what I'm going to do with the others. I'll have to a signature whenever I get enough posts to do so. Until then tis is what I have:
2001 F-250 crewcab
2001 Sporttrac 4x4 that is lifted
89 F-150 4x4
55 F-100
54 F-100
53 F-100 ( coming home soon )
66 Mustang
I guess you can see the pattern - all Fords - said with a BIG smile!
Congratulations on aquiring another truck!! I know what you mean about building something for the little woman. I have been promising the little woman to rebuild her 1967 VW to a dependable daily driver (which would mean 9-12 months of truck time and ~3K) Well, last week I found her a 1965 Falcon sedan. I showed her some pics, got her pumped up about it and bought the danged thing.
To make a long story short I just trailered it home about an hour ago. Its a running driving car that looks good too. She is tickled pink!
This is a win/win situation. She gets a neat old car to drive and play with, I don't have to spend my summer rebuilding a VW.
Get busy, get her Mustang driving so you can tinker with your new truck

Next time you are on the south side of Houston let me know. If I'm available, I can take you to a place that will blow your 53-56 mind away. Trucks, Panels, etc. There must be at least a 1/2 dozen of them and he will sell some things. I bought a 351 Cleveland off of the guy. He's a friend of a friend but I really like him. Suspect you might too. He would be a good guy to get to know.
Thanks for the congrats. I am very lucky that she is understanding of my hobbies as long as I provide her with a good book allowance. I wish I could find a 56 also someday but that won't be anytime soon. I definatly need to get another place so I have room to build a shop where I can store and work on my toys. The best part is my F-250 will be payed for in 4-5 months so that will surely increase my funding for the toys and speed things up a little bit.
Hey Carl thanks, I will have to take you up on that someday. I'm only a couple of hours away. My dad stays around Pearland and I think one of my uncles moved to that area also. Maybe that guy will sell me some parts I may need.
The place is an urban legend come to life. Too bad I'm not so much into the 53-56's but even still, I think it's a pretty coole place to see.
If you are up here anytime soon, stop by to see the warehouse I just bought. It's where I've been spending all of my time for the past month or so. It's a 20,000 ft^2 bldg. full of stuff. Basically Fred Sanford died and I got everything. Worth the price of admission. Everyday we find something new. Today's find - Unopened/unread Houston Chronicles - One from the day after Jack Ruby was indicted for greasing Oswald, and the other was the day after John Glenn orbited the moon. Anyone need some Vesicant paint for detecting mustard gas?? I have a case of 4 oz. cans that are probably 90 years old and have never been opened.

Hey - I sent you anote a while back about A John Deere #1. I think it's a horse drwan hay mower but I thought you or one of your J.D. buddies might be able to tell me more about it. I can't find anything on the internet.
Well folks I picked my new truck(s) today. I'll have to take some pictures when I get a chance. With the deal I got another cab sitting on a frame with a volare clip, a pickup bed full of parts, a backseat full of parts, and the bed of the 53 full of parts. I'll have to unload it all before I go to work tomorrow night but it's worth it. Hopefully I'll be able to sort it all out this weekend when I'm off.
Carl, we'll have to meet up someday but right now we're having to work quite a bit because we're shorthanded a work. I'll like like to see the building that you baught, it looks like you got some interesting things in there.
