Ok gents (and ladies - if there are any out there!), didn't find much searching the site on the best spark plug for our BeAsT Rangers ... what's the consensus, has there been a poll done? Last I recall checking a few years ago, it seemed to be pretty widely agreed that Motorcraft was best to stick with, though I thought they and Autolite were the same (??) - even though I have some Bosch labels under my hood (from the factory), I don't suppose there has been much luck with any of their plugs types?
Yes Sir - that's why I asked - the dealer tells me "AGSF22PPM" - (`99 Flex-Fuel 3.0) - does that sound right to you (?) - that is different than what was in it originally (factory).
Thx again,
Glenn ...

Double platinum fine wire type for replacement, that way, with our "waste spark " system, you don't have to be persnickety which cylinder they go in .
The factory had platinum center electrodes on one bank & platinum on the ground electrode in the other bank, because of the polarity reversal of the spark on those cylinders, with our waste spark system.
They did this to save some money in manufactuing.
We can't get plugs made like that, so they have double platinum specifed for replacement.
You can find a "waste spark" link in the "Tech Info" thread, located atop our forum.
On fords I always run autolite plugs, I would also run motorcraft just not as easy to get around here I can order them but usually when I go to get them I plan on working on the vehicle that day and the autolights are almost always available.
For a 1999 3.0L FFV, I run AGSF12FMF6 plugs. These are the latest Motorcraft "fine wire" platinums, and they run great. Pawpaw, they are actually single platinums, where only the center electrode is platinum, but I pulled them with about 50K miles on them, and didn't see any erosion on the ground electrode.
Well the Motorcraft are definately the right plug as they are factory plugs. I am currently running Bosch Platinums with the 4 prongs and IMO they are definately my very close 2nd choice. Bosch makes a great reliable product and are easy to find around here.

Bosch plugs run great in my gas Mercedes, but were the reason for a misfire problem with my Ranger (previous owner had installed them). Do a search, and you will see Bosch plugs, and Ford's EDIS don't work well together!
Since I replaced the Bosch with Motorcraft, I have not had a misfire problem.

Sorry to hear about your misfire, but my truck has run bosch platinum 4, 8 years out of 15 with no problem, runs great and strong. Misfires can happen with any type of plug, even factory, it happens. You're right though certain vehicles agree more with different type plugs... but as to which is better it'll always be ones opinion vs. another.
my only problem with Bosch Plat+4's are the price. They haven't seemd to do any better than double plats and cost almost twice the price.
You're right about that, they aren't cheap. In my case they seem to be doing the trick so I just suck it up and stick with em. On the other hand they aren't something I change often so in the long run it isn't too expensive per mile.
