Comparable flow rates of 3 common Y heads
I noticed this info while re-reading one of the "Y-Block Magazine"s and thought it would be useful info. It was provided by the editor, Bruce Young.
"A very few casting mark ECZ-C heads were milled (somewhere between.030" and .060") by Ford and made a part of a race or the 260 hp packages. ...casting mark ECZ-C were the most common '56 Y Block head. Probably, second (after the ECZ-G head of "57-'59) most numerous Y Block head of all time.
Except for some rare or rumored race heads, ECZ-C heads performance wise were probably the third best Y-block heads. The first two would be the '113 head and the ECZ-G heads, respectively. The ECZ-G heads will normally flow 160-170 cfm. 113 heads because they are more open in the combustion chamber, will flow 165-175 cfm. ECZ-C heads (and pretty much any 55-56 head) will normally flow 150-160 cfm.)

Would you be good enough to tell me what specific issue of "Y" Block magazine contains that information?
I am seeking information regarding the M260 and 1956 Thunderbird dual quad setup and recently subscribed to that publication.
I would like to see if Bruce has any still availiable.
Do you have any additional information regarding that setup?
The heads that are listed in the Mercury Bulletin for the M260 setup are EDB-6090-A.
Thanks,Oldmics

The issue was May-June 2006, Vol 13, No 3. Nothing much else to the response. The original letter was as follows: "I was recently offered a set of Y-block cylinder heads. The casting mark looks like ECZ-C. The seller says they are special 56 race heads, and wants $1000 for the pair. .... How much better are these heads than the ECZ-G heads on my '57 Ford?"
