Distributor

1947 V8: How do you change and set points. Do you remove the fan and pulley to remove the distributor?

Yes,
The fan has to be removed and then the distributor removed unless you are a contortionist or the front of the truck is removed.
Then fix the distributor as required and then reinstall. It doesn't require any special timing, it only goes on one way so you don't have to worry about mistiming the engine.
