Got a call from the dealer today, our new Solstice GXP has arrived! We weren't expecting it for a couple more weeks, Looks like we need to speed up the work on Gracie, she's got a new bunkmate and cargo to haul!
What ever you do, DON'T tell my daughter's boyfriend. He has a black Solstice but not the GXP. He took delivery on his last Spring. Very NICE little hot rod scooter. You will enjoy your's immensely. Jon bought an aftermarket rear windscreen for between the two head rests. Much simpler to install than the factory one and NO monster holes in the body to mount it.
I think he is going to wait until the warranty runs out before he hot rods it with a small block Chevy, ala Hot Rod Magazine. Oooo, did I say that bad word?
You WILL enjoy this new toy. Keep us posted on the truck progress.
Ax, with one Miata in your stable, I would have thought you might would have opted for the (NC) MX5 Miata's. The Solstice is an exotic looking car with plenty of nice options.
Unfortunately I love my Miata and hate to part with it, but Mazda failed to keep it competitive since 99 by not giving it enough wheel width, the base Sol is handing the Miata it's butt, plus we've BTDT and wanted to try something with a bit more umph. Solstice is almost identical in size to the Miata but with 4" wider tire! The GXP weighs only 600# more than our 99, but has double the HP! It is quicker and more nimble than a Porche Boxster and only a smidge slower than a ZO6 Corvette for 1/2 the price!
We ordered the GXP with 0 options except AC, but the std equipment is quite nice. there was nothing available on the option list that would have made it better for us.
your going to love that car, my wife to delievery of hers in dec 05. it not a gxp (NOT option for 06) but it still got alot of zip. the turbo got to make that baby really fly keep an eye on the pinion seal , i know the 06 had problems with them, ours had to be changed at 5k ( just a heads up, not scare) it is alot of fun, i love the ride ( probably the biggest reason i'm chose ifs and irs for the 49. congrats! and enjoy
saw one at my local gas station this morning(5:00am). Yellow, too. Sweet car. Had me wondering why it was being driven in below zero temps with a couple inches of snow on the roads, lol.
