got a new flatbed, help I.D. & Date?

well, i guess i should have said "new" to me.

i got if from a guy who said it came off a 69 Ford, i liked the way it was rivited together and "looked" old.

after pressure washing it, i got to thinking it might even be older than 1969. has atleast 4 different colors of paint, and enough holes in fame to indicate woods been replaced a few times.

also i noticed the width of the frame rail mounts (which is already correct for my 53) have been changed. Hmmm maybe this isn't even a ford bed.

any ideas about year constructed? it's 6' x 8'

here's 3 pics i loaded into my gallery

The sure looks like a Ford bed. From what I can see in your pictures it's build exactly like the bed I have on my '48/51 F-4. The difference is your's doesn't have the Ford stamped in the back rail and the pockets are outside of the rear rail, mine are inside. I assume your bed is from a newer Ford or maybe a company that supplied beds to Ford.

Here is a picture of the reproduction Ford bed Northern Classic Trucks used to sell. These were exact duplicates of the original Ford beds.

They changed the Ford on the back beam sometime in the late '50s or early '60s, I an not sure when, to a block letter type. They might have eleminated it all together in the later '60s

How long is your bed? The F-1 had 6 1/2' beds, the F-2 and F-3, F-4 had 9' beds while the F-5 and F-6 had a choice of either the 9' or 12' bed.
