At 11:56 am on December 24th. 2006 my 292 was stated successfully for the first time in a while.
I ran perfect idled geat and reved up ust as well. Proud of myself timing was right. Had low but some oil pressure. (maybe guage who knows) Can't stress enough how well and smooth the first 6 and 3quarte minutes went.
My mood did switch to a panic though as by the 7 minute mark coolant started to pour from the rear driver side of the Yblock.
No problems everything A1 and growlin like a Tom Cat hydralic clutch giving problems, the fuel supply is just a Jerry can, and the water pump started to leak. Everything internal is workin great and dad gave it his thumbs up to. Oil guage still reads at 5 or so but most likely just the guage?????
The water leak was something small and stupid just a Opps, "I forgot that"
That seemed bad and now hopefully it will be alright, I would put a mechanical guage on soon just to be safe. It could be a bad oil filter or a problem somewhere that you don`t want causing engine damage.
Sounds like once you figure out the oil pressure you`ll be on your way to happy motoring.
A mechancal oil guage or a master guage direct on the motor that will give a true oil pressure reading.
Be sure to have enough antfreeze in the cooling system with these freezing temps. It was close for me when I bought a used 78 F350 crew and started it up one morning with smoke coming from under the hood, seems it had mostly water and not much antifreeze so the water pump couldn`t turn. It didn`t hurt anything except for a couple of frost plugs that were very hard to get at.
Thank you it's not done yet but sure gained some momentum. I must admit swearing alittle less and sleepin better. Next thing s to get it moving should be done that by the 26th. Then wait for some body parts and pain er good and put n accessories and interior. Wow that's still a list.
I was alittle scared the first time I started it, nobody knew how to grid and set the old style grain truck valves. I was waiting for parts to shoot out of the valve covers.
